Joe Rogan Apologizes to Daniel Cormier for UFC 214 Interview JRE Podcast

Joe Rogan Apologizes to Daniel Cormier following UFC 214

UFC commentator Joe Rogan giving a heartfelt apology to Daniel Cormier. Following their interview just after he lost by vicious ko Jon Jones at UFC 214. Joe is joined by good friend Eddie Bravo and discusses his side of the story and how it was completely his fault.

It was Joe himself who stopped interviewing fighters after they had been knocked out. Saying that he never wants to interview fighters after they have been knocked out like that. But on this occasion, he got a little wrapped up in the emotion of the event and on auto pilot more than anything, tried to do the interview.

He feels terrible for putting Daniel Cormier in that position having just been viciously finished. In probably the most important fight of his entire career. Joe Rogan added that the new light heavyweight champion Jon Jones looked amazing. And that he is most definitely one of the greatest UFC fighters of all time! Beating Cormier for a second time now proves that, even to the naysayers.

Even before the fight, Jones had said that he wanted to be the first guy to stop Cormier. And he did just that in a dynamic fashion. Proving that after beating Cormier at UFC 214 by knockout, he is the number one p4p fighter on the planet.

What Next for the King?

What next now for the newly crowned UFC Champion? With not too many likely candidates available right now. Jones may well be looking to the super fight against Brock Lesnar. Although a much bigger man. There is no doubting that Jones can add some muscles and beef up to 240lb plus. Lesnar will be coming down from 265lbs  plus to meet Jones if they do decide to fight.

Anything is now possible for the new 205lb king. He had finally proved he is the King.

MCGREGOR VS MAYWEATHER CAMP: SHINOBI VLOG EPISODE 2

MCGREGOR VS MAYWEATHER CAMP VLOG EPISODE 2

Let’s join Team McGregor for a normal day in fight camp, as they get prepared out in Las Vegas Nevada. As Conor McGregor gets ready to shock the world and beat Floyd Mayweather, August 26th. Colin and team, including striking coach Owen Roddy and UFC featherweight Artem Lobov. Are all getting in their active rest day.

Going at it hard all week, the guys have the luxury of having some time to rest and relax. It’s too hot to stay outside in the Nevada sun, as it hits 100 degrees Fahrenheit.  Unless of course, you are taking a dip in a lake. All be it a man made one as you are in one of the naturally driest places on earth.

It looks like the team is in good spirits as the fight draws nearer. As another SBG fighter, Frans Mlambo also joins the crew.

With less than four weeks to go until the historic crossover fight. Team McGregor appears to be having fun and enjoying the process. But come August 25th, when Conor and Floyd step on to the scales in Las Vegas. That is when we will know we are finally set to go and make some history.

ANDRE BERTO TELLS CONOR MCGREGOR WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR VS. MAYWEATHER; GIVES WARNING

ANDRE BERTO WARNS MCGREGOR WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR VS. FLOYD MAYWEATHER

Andre Berto was the last fighter to face Floyd Mayweather in a professional boxing match. Berto is also friends with Irish MMA superstar Conor McGregor who meets Floyd in his World on August 26th. Berto had some insight for Conor and advised him on specific things to watch out for during the fight.

Mayweather may not have a punch in terms of power. But he can catch you with these pop shots and if they catch you clean, you could go down. When Floyd slows down the pace he lulls other fighters into a false sense of security. And then lands one of those sneaky pops shots as Andre calls them. Some words of wisdom for UFC star Conor McGregor from someone who has been there done that.

Cris Cyborg Vs. Tonya Evinger UFC 214 Episode 4 #CYBORGNATION

Cris Cyborg Vs. Tonya Evinger UFC 214 Episode 4 July 29

Every time we see Cris Cyborg as she cuts down to her fighting weight. It always looks like she is going through absolute hell. 145lbs is Cyborg’s division and barring some catastrophic accident or mistake. This time tomorrow she will be the reigning UFC women’s featherweight Champion of the World.

But for now, she has to make it through the excruciating weight cut. It’s something many fighters have to no doubt endure. But part of me always feels worse seeing on of the ladies in the sport having such a rough time. Her long time wrestling coach and friend and UFC Hall of Famer Tito Ortiz is onsite to give support. And help Justino through the last stages of her fight preparation.

It’s a process that seems to drag on forever as Cris squeezes every last bit of spare moisture from her lean torso. Every last drop counts it seems. And you really have to ask the question as to how did she ever get down to 140?

Exercises are followed by hot baths, all to shed the final few ounces as Chris’s bulky frame slims down to the right proportions.

With Cris a few grammes over on the official scales. The team makes a drastic decision to shave off her hair! Luckily after drying her hair a little bit more, she makes to lose the weight and she’s ready to go. What a nightmare, over and one! Ladies and Gentlemen, we have ourselves a fight. As Cris Cyborg will face Tony Evinger at 145lbs for the UFC title. Not it’s all up to you Cris, the very best of luck.

Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier Being NICE To Each Other

Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier ActuallyBeing Nice to Eachother?

One thing we do know! Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier do not like each other, at all, right? Well here is a nicely put together compilation of footage. Where Jones and Cormier have some good things to say about each other. Granted some was firmly tongue and cheek. But perhaps, buried somewhere underneath the animosity. There are two best friends waiting to break out?

Could Jon Jones & Daniel Cormier ever be best buddies? Well, let us take a look all the times they have said nice things about each other and praised each other’s skills! When you put them all side by side there is actually quite a lot of material. But like we said, much of it has to be taken with a grain of salt.

We will have to wait until their fight is over at UFC 214 to judge whether they actually mean any of it. Competition and rivalry can destroy the best of friendships. Let’s see if it can build one for a change?

Mayweather vs. McGregor - ALL ACCESS: Episode 1

Mayweather vs. McGregor – ALL ACCESS: Episode 1

Finally the first episode in the much anticipated Floyd mayweather vs Conor McGregor All access Show. As we are taken behind the scenes and under the hood for the biggest boxing fight in the sports history. Our first taste of what is to come is both Floyd and Conor doing a photoshoot. As Floyd freestyles his trash talk, aiming directly at the Irishman.

“I’m knocking McGregor the fuck out”

Next up we are drawn into the craziness of the 4 stop World Tour which began in  the Staples centre Los Angeles. With a crowd heavily favouring the Dubliner. It is obvious from the beginning that it’s going to be an uphill struggle with the crowds for Floyd.

From the outset we see that this is not going to be any ordinary pre fight build up. The two men square off and go at it immediately. With new camera shots and unseen footage. We see in realtime how the p4p great mayweather takes on board the words of McGregor. with both fighters ultra confident abut the outcome of this fight. Things are setting up for a wild ride.

Once again we get to see Conor and mayweather Senior going at it at the post tour presser. Hilarity as Conor tells Senior that his son is too small and too frail. Some verbal jousting at it’s very best.

Floyd talks a little about the difference between the fighter he was 10 years ago compared to today. Adding that this is why the fight is so entertaining. How will the now 40 years old Floyd handle the young dangerous McG?

Backstage in Toronto and we see artist Drake meeting with both Conor and Floyd. While Floyd talks about not letting your opponent know which Mayweather is going to show up at any given time! Saying that he is setting up Conor for the kill. Good luck to both men as history unfolds.

Jon Jones Vs Daniel Cormier Analysing the Staredown

Mindsmash taking a far deeper dive into the UFC 214 pre fight press conference face-off. Between the current light heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier. And the former undisputed Champion Jon Jones. What signals can we take from the up close and person stare down?

With this fight has been such a long time in the making and with some much on the line. It’s no wonder that any little edge one can get over the other is jumped upon. We get to hear some thoughts on what thought processes may have been going the heads of both fighters.

Paulie Malignaggi On Conor McGregor's Power "It's Something You Respect"

Paulie Malignaggi On Conor McGregor’s Sparring and Respect

The former World two time Champion Paulie Malignaggi discussing Conor McGregor and his punching power. Malignaggi has been involved with the McGregor training camp for the upcoming mega fight with Floyd Mayweather on August 26th. When asked about Conor’s power Paulie replied,

“It’s Something You Respect”

He’s also asked about the angles Conor utilises during his attacks and whether they were odd? Paulie talks about Conor’s awkwardness as opposed to his movements being odd. But what Paulie does say, is that McGregor knows what he’s doing and how he wants to do it. He’s no dummy and there’s a method to what he’s doing.

Paulie is asked if he believes it will be  a competitive fight over 12 rounds. But that is not for him to say! It’s not up to him to say whether it’s going to be a competitive fight or not. That is for the two men going into the ring to face off against each other to decide.

Malignaggi says that he knew there was going to be some awkwardness and odd movements before he ever joined the camp. That he wasn’t expecting to see a textbook boxer and that he would see something different in his attack. And that is what he saw. However he can’t give us the ins and outs of what is going on in the camp. As the effectiveness of what he is working on has yet to fully develop, so we shall have to wait and see.

Paulie flies back to the camp on Monday to rejoin the team. As they prepare for the August showdown in Las Vegas. Until fight night he has got to be very careful about what he tells the press. Lots of secrets, no doubt many of which we will hear come fight night as Malignaggi does colour commentary.

Brock Lesnar “The Return of The Beast of Burden”

Lesnar vs. Jones UFC Superfight Official ?

Brock Lesnar – Skill Breakdown / Film Study / Highlights *NEW* 2017

With the return of Lesnar seeming highly likely, and the apparent foresight of a Superfight with Jon Jones looming (assuming he gets past DC), I felt it was relevant to revisit the skill-set of Brock Lesnar. Love him or hate him, you’ll most certainly watch him.

Disclaimer: I will not be focusing on post-diverticulitis Brock, nor will I focus on Hunt’s high-profile losses. I have zero affiliation with either fighter and instead, want to dissect their respective strengths and possibilities for how this fight may play out minus some type of quick finish.

John Kavanagh Pro MMA Fight Portsmouth UK 03 - 04

John Kavanagh pro MMA fight

SBG Ireland head coach John Kavanagh in one of his pro MMA fights, circa 2004 – 2004. Conor McGregor’s coach was himself a fierce competitor back in the day. And this is one of the very few pieces of footage floating around showing him inside the cage.

It was filmed at Cage Wars which was held in Portsmouth England. An event that promoted by a well-known fight promoter at the time Patrick Mooney. This film captures at least some of the original seeds that sprouted the sport of Mixed Martial Arts in Ireland and Europe.

With the sport coming on leaps and bound on a global scale in a very short space of time. Where once this handful of competitors competed in local village halls. In front of a couple hundred hardcore fans. We now see elite level fighters competing in front of tens of thousands of people. From Tokyo to LA, from New York to Dublin. Mixed Martial Arts has become a truly global sport.

We wonder where things will be in another 10 to 20 years from now. The biggest sport in the World perhaps? We will have to wait and see. But for right here right now, you are looking at history.

Jon Jones: The Real Baddest Man on the Planet

Jon Jones UFC 214 press conference.

Jon Jones: The Real Baddest Man on the Planet

‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ has long and fittingly been the moniker used to describe the heavyweight champion of the world. It was adopted from boxing and rose in popularity during Brock Lesnar’s reign as UFC champion in 2009 and 2010.

This writer has nothing but respect for current UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic, and indeed every heavyweight champ that came before him. Miocic is currently writing his name into the history books as one of the best ever. He’s riding a four fight round one KO streak that includes winning the title against Fabricio Werdum last May.

But in Jon ‘Bones’ Jones, we are talking about a different type of animal. A ruthless and dangerous animal that embodies the title of ‘The Baddest Man’ in more ways than one. He fits into the double entendre of the definition of bad perfectly, depending on which way you look at him.

The English dictionary defines the word firstly as ‘of poor quality or a low standard’. Something many people would certainly describe some of Jones’ personal life decisions. Not least Saturday nights opponent Daniel Cormier.

Secondly, it reads ‘not such as to be hoped for or desired; unpleasant or unwelcome’. That would be putting it mshoguildly in relation to stepping into a cage to have a fight with the man. The former number one pound for pound ranked mixed martial artist in the world.

Ironically it was Jones’ extracurricular activities in his personal life that cost him his place at the top of those rankings. But let’s be honest, it’s obvious we are looking at an extraordinary competitor. Not just the obvious pick for the current active pound for pound best but worthy of a place in the greatest of all time argument.

Jon jones vs Mauricio Shogun rua.Jones won the title in March 2011 at only 23 years of age and became the youngest UFC champion ever. He completely dominated the legendary Shogun Rua for three rounds before finishing him in devastating fashion with a body shot and knee to the head.

That was the beginning of a run of legend killing. Rampage Jackson got submitted for the first time of his then 41 fight career. Lyoto Machida was brutally dropped unconscious after a standing guillotine which was a first submission defeat for him as well. Rashad Evens got schooled for five rounds and before Vitor Belfort tapped at the mercy of an Americana.

After a demolition of the out of his depth, Chael Sonnen in April 2013 ‘Bones’ career and performances took a dip. He was pushed to his limits against Alexander Gustafsson and just about got over the line with a unanimous decision. Then again he was taken the full five rounds against the dangerous Glover Teixeria although this time the result was more conclusive.

Then came part one of this grudge rivalry with Daniel Cormier. It was another gruelling five rounder that included Cormier being taken down for the first time in his mixed martial arts career. Jones unanimously was awarded four of the five rounds in what was one of the fights of the year for 2015.

Controversies

It was later announced that Jon had tested positive for cocaine in a test one month out from his fight with Cormier. This somewhat tarnished the reputation of Jones but was nothing for what was about to come.

Jon jones US appears in court. One month out from his title defence against Anthony Johnson it was revealed the Light-Heavyweight champion had been involved in a hit and run incident. Jones allegedly had run a red light then smashed his vehicle into two others before fleeing the scene on foot.

He did backtrack however to pick up a wad of cash but forgot to take his marijuana pipe he had stuffed and ready to puff. After spending a few hours on the run Jones handed himself into the Albuquerque police. He had hit rock bottom and to add insult to injury he was stripped of his title and suspended indefinitely.

Jones returned with a dominant all be it lacklustre performance by his standards against Ovince St Preux. This was his fourth decision victory in a row and people were now starting to wonder what has happened to Jones the finisher. Was his personal life having an impact on his physical capabilities?

The scene was set for a massive fight on the monumental UFC 200 card against his greatest foe and new champion Cormier. The MMA world was rubbing their hands together with anticipation. How would a returning Jones look against a fighter in that was getting better and better with every win.

In true Jon Jones style disaster struck in incredible fashion. He was flagged for a doping violation and pulled from the card with only three days to go. The news rippled across the MMA world like a plague as fans and pundits united in their disappointment of the former pound for pound king.

Fast forward one year and here we are back to where we were. We’re days away from what has become now an even bigger fight than UFC 200. The pair still hate each other and probably will forever. We know what we are going to get from Cormier, but what of Jones?

Form is Temporary, Class is Permanent

Jon jones and daniel cormier UFC 214 presser..I think it’s fair to say that this could well be Jon’s toughest test on paper. Daniel Cormier is on a four fight title defence win streak and now has the invaluable experience of having faced Jones before. The question on everybody’s minds is what has Jones been doing for the last 12 months?

Has he been getting his life in shape and training his ass off? He looks like he has. Or has he been boozing and doing lines of cocaine? It’s possible but I think Jon Jones is too smart for that. Everyone makes mistakes but it’s how you learn from them that truly make you the person you become.

The fact of the matter is we could be about to witness the best version of Jon Jones we have ever seen. That’s scary considering he has already been widely considered as the pound for pound number one since Anderson Silva left the scene. At still only 30 we could be about to embark on an amazing second chapter in an already incredible career.

People are already starting to talk about him taking on the former Heavyweight champion and global icon Brock Lesnar. Jones has spoken for a long time about his ambition to go up to Heavyweight. If we see a return to the best Jon Jones on Saturday night I make him the favourite against any Heavyweight on the planet.

As the old saying goes, form is temporary, class is permanent. Potential is the energy possessed by one’s body by virtue of its position relative to others. Jones has plenty of it. If he is not already known universally as the baddest man on the planet, my guess is it won’t be long until he is.

UFC Fighters Before & After Fights

UFC Fighters Before & After Their Fights

We take a look at the damage which at least some UFC fighters receive during their fights. Many fans are generally not aware of what the fighters have to endure. Not only during the fight itself but post fight when the cameras are off. And everyone has gone home safe and sound. This is a reminder of what the fighters go through to keep the fans entertained.

In this video, we get an up close and personal view on the lacerations, bruising and often crazy swelling. That accompanies one of these brutal back and forth drawn out battles. Where as some fighters would fall, there are many in the sport who keep fighting on at all costs. Leaving it to the referee’s and medical to decide if a fighter is able to continue.

The Fighters Invloved

Between the Irish hand grenade Marcus Davis and the beating, he took in his stand-up war with Nate Diaz. Or Chris Tuchscherer who was drafted to take on the knockout walk off specialist Mark Hunt. Current middleweight Champion Michael Bisping. Who in his second fight against Dan Henderson which he actually won. Looked the worst for wear by far of the two.

The former heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez. Who handed not one, but two severe beatings to Junior Dos Santos in both of their title fights. Or veteran fighter Cung Lee who took on Michael Bisping. And suffered one of the severest beatings in the sport.

With so many examples we could keep going. But for now, at least these examples really do show the level of punishment a fighter can take in a full contact MMA fight. Remember they are only using 4oz’s of protection. With nothing between the knees and shins full impact. Brutal yes, barbaric, mmm, yes too. But without a doubt the most exhilarating combat sport on the planet to watch.

LEONARD ELLERBE IMPRESSED BY MCGREGOR "HIS STAND UP GAME...HIS TIMING IS IMPECCABLE!"

Leonard Ellerbe on Conor McGregor’s Cold Hand Game and the World Stopping August 26th

Conor McGregor’s favourite promoter outside of Dana White, Leonard Ellerbe. Is full of praise for the Irishman. following on from the Mayweather vs McGregor World Press Tour. Ellerbe says that now, that is all people are talking about. He says that following the Tour the Casino’s in Vegas got in touch. As it turned out they were showing the events live and didn’t realise all that vulgarity was going to happen.

Talking about McGregor, Ellerbe says that he was impressed by his confidence. And that he’s looking forward to seeing what he will bring to the table on August 26th.

Ellerbe talks about the opening odds of the fight and how Floyd is working all the time. With no idea what McGregor will bring once inside the ring. Or even worse if something were to happen to Floyd like he puts his shoulder out or breaks his hand. So preparing across the board is all you can do.

Leonard talks about McGregor’s style which is hard to prepare for and that talk of using Superman punches is just meant to distract. Ellerbe says that Conor is a strong guy, with great timing.

“He’s got a cold little hand game. His timing is impeccable.”

All the other antics including the trash talk, Leonard respects that. Because he’s been able to back it up. So you have got to respect a guy like that, he’s been going to it.

“He’s not going to do that to Floyd Mayweather.”

He believes that bringing in Paulie Malignaggi was a good move as he is a veteran. Although he doesn’t box like Floyd, he understands the game.

Leonard also talks about how he feels the fight is good for combat sports in general, why not? Somebody has to lose, but combat sports wins! He also believes that a good portion of the World will stop to watch the fight on August 26th. How he’s not surprised by how big the fight has turned out.

With both guys having huge fan bases. They knew early on that there was a ridiculous amount of interest in making the fight happen. And the overwhelming attention it’s gotten thus far.

Tyron Woodley: Georges St-Pierre is Playing Games - If you Want to Fight then Fight!

Tyron Woodley: Georges St-Pierre is Playing Games, I’m Dominating at Welterweight

The UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley joined BT Sport in the UK for an exclusive interview. He reflects on his previous two title defences against Stephen Wonderboy Thompson. Tyron gives his thought on that fight and how he was the fighter who forced the referee to consider stopping both of their fights.

Woodley says that he would rather fight a guy who is more of a freestyle fighter, rather than a specialist. But again he has to go out and take another opponent out of that speciality. Woodley references his previous fights against Andre Galvao and Jake Shields. Where his whole camp was about preventing the takedown. So there’s no secret what he will have to try to do against Maia.

The conversation moves on to the former champion Georges St Pierre. And him talking about making a return. Tyron simply says that he doesn’t have time to play games. He goes on to talk about how he listened into Michael Bisping’s podcast as GSP had called the show. On which again he said that wanted to fight the middleweight Champion. At this point, Woodley thinks GSP is just playing games. And he has to focus on Maia and cannot think too far ahead.

Tyron believes that the reason that GSP doesn’t want to fight him, is that he is a wrestler who KO’s people. Those are the types of fighters GSP has had trouble with in the past. And so he feels he want to take a different route and avoid the Welterweight Champion.

Tyron sees the GSP fight as a dream fight, but he cannot get emotionally involved. Because it may or may not happen. T Wood also feels that Georges doesn’t want to risk his legacy as a welterweight. So by fighting Bisping and co his record at welterweight will remain intact.

He also talks about the lack of marketing by the UFC. How he has had to make himself marketable so that the UFC would follow suit. As Tyron says, it’s his career and he has to be responsible for that himself. He just has to keep doing what the is doing.

Conor McGregor Ready for Heavyweight Division (Prank) | Muscle Madness

Conor McGregor Lookalike Pranks LA

Now, this is just nuts! Now although the guy does look somewhat like Conor McGregor. He’s shredded, he’s got the distinctive tattoos. The facial hair, sunglasses and the entourage. At the same time, he’s  probably a few weight divisions above the UFC Lightweight Champion.  Perhaps if you have never seen the guy in public you might be fooled. This street workout athlete Islam Badurgov does a great job in keeping his mouth shut and letting his appearance do the talking.

Another thing we have to say is that from what we saw of Conor on muscle beach Cali. He wasn’t quite in the same bracket as Islam in terms of body weight exercises. Still, the crowd seemed to be fooled as the y absolutely mob the fake Irishman. And if anything, what this does show is the huge grassroots popularity of McGregor in the US.

Just imagine that lady who nearly loses her mind, when she goes home, sticks on YouTube. And realises it wasn’t Conor at all. Now that would be a sight to see. It’s cool that these guys managed to pull this off and we will have to wait and see if this footage makes it’s way to the McGregor camp. Who themselves are now in the same city.

It’s Not Him!

Sure hope so as this is one of the best pranks we have seen in some time. Must have been hundreds of people flocking around as they tried to get a glimpse. And even more hopefully their picture with Conor 2.0. Nothing was overlooked as they got the tattoos, even the cauliflower ears spot on.

No doubt there will be some red faces in LA later tonight. As the word spreads that the real Conor McGregor was nowhere near muscle beach. Oh well, all in a days fun.

Conor McGregor - The Power of Belief

Conor McGregor and His Power of Belief

With just 30 days to go until the biggest fight in sports history. As the two division UFC Champion, Conor McGregor faces boxing great Floyd Mayweather! Who is going to win? Conventional wisdom would say there is no question. There is no competition. And Floyd Junior has already written himself the cheque. But are some counting out the Dubliner too soon?

For a guy who from humble beginnings has moved on to become the biggest star in combat sports. A man who visualised his future and in his mind’s eye created the very outcome which we see today. With some beautifully edited segments, we get a montage of time where the younger McGregor spoke openly about his future. Being 100% confident that he would in time become the UFC Champion. And fulfil his destiny as a World beater.

“If you have a clear belief in that, it will happen no matter what. Then nothing can stop it, it’s destined to happen.”

When Conor was young he would visualise stadiums filled with fans. And he realised that it was there for the taking. All he had to do was work for it. So by focusing himself on his goals, they began to happen. And now that they are happening, he’s still making it happen. And that is what spurs him along even more.

He says that when things are going easy, it’s easy to visualise the future. But when things are going bad. That is when it becomes difficult to visualise the good stuff. Conor talks about how the thing he loves doing, this addiction. Can also secure his families future. He talks about how he doesn’t consider what he does work, it’s just life.

And this is why he has this tunnel vision. Why he is willing to kill every single man in his path to get the belt.

“Through wins, through losses, through life. I feel that I am untouchable.”

I’d rather shoot and miss, than not shoot at all… I will go down as the greatest of all time.

Daniel Cormier Exclusive UFC 214 Interview with BT Sports

Daniel Cormier UFC 214 Exclusive Interview with BT Sports

The current reigning UFC Light heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier. Sat down with BT sport in the UK for an exclusive interview, before his main event fight at UFC 214. Where he will be facing the former undisputed Champion, Jonny “Bones” Jones.

People may not realise, but this is actually the fourth no fifth time, DC has had to prepare to face Jones. And this time he’s confident that it will happen. With all the right noises coming from the Jones camp. And after having failed so many times in the past, it simply has to happen this time around.

Even though Cormier is now 38 years old. He still feels as though he has plenty left in the tank., having only been fighting for 7 years outside of his wrestling career. So he feels that he really hasn’t taken the same degree of damage which some other fighters have. Daniel feels that the way to beat Jones is to pressure him.

“He doesn’t like getting Hit”

But DC also feels that he has to do a better defensive job. As he allowed Jones to score too much during their previous bout. But he knows he cannot be reckless against him. He knows he is a great fighter, but he also knows the path to victory. Cormier reckons that none of Jon’s punches, kicks or knees can get him out of there. He has already tasted them and it’s not enough. He loves to fight and his Champion heart and spirit will carry him through on Saturday night.

Daniel feels that when he initially got the belt. The majority of fans still believed Jon jones was the true Champion. However, after defending the belt now on four occasions. He feels that the perception has changed. That now he is a worthy Champion. But as a competitor, he still feels he has to beat Jon. And not for anything else!

And although he was initially shocked by the fans booing him during the UFC Summer kick off. He has now gotten over it and all that matter is what happens inside the octagon July 29th.

In the Clinch with Tyron Woodley as he Prepares UFC 214

Tyron Woodley: In the Clinch with as he Prepares UFC 214

We go inside the life of the UFC’s Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley. As commentator Jon Anik takes us into the clinch for UFC 214. We get to hear about those who are nearest and dearest that helped push him forward.

First up we meet Deborah Woodley, Tyron’s mother, who lives in East St Louis, the hood as Tyron’s calls it. And an area that he would like to see his mother move from. But this is her home and she’s not going anywhere, at least for now. A mother to 13 kids, and also a leading light in her local community. Tyron gives us some backstory of his mom, who in his words, was saved by God.

We are brought to see the house in which Tyron grew up, which is in Ferguson Missouri. Where the young Tyron lived for 13 years when growing up. What follows is a tour of his old neighbourhood, as we get to see the home he grew up in. And hear how that on any one night, up to 15 people could be sleeping under its roof.

The family lost their home, so Tyron ended up staying with a friend locally. Yet he still had to walk past his old home each and every day. Which his mother, Deborah, says was the hardest thing she ever had to endure. We also get to hear about the crime ridden environment in which the Woodley’s had to live from day to day.

It was a lifestyle that lit a fire in the UFC Champion for him to find away out!

The program offers some inspiring insight into the life of Woodley. Who we think it’s fair to say has been badly marketed by the UFC. Perhaps with what we learn here, more fans will embrace the 170lb Champion as the rightful king of the division and give him his dues going forward.

Chris Weidman Needs to Pay, Michael Bisping Not Happy at All

Chris Weidman Needs to Pay, Michael Bisping Not Happy at All

The UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping is not a happy camper. Following last weekend’s UFC on Fox 25 and Chris Weidman’s defeat of Kelvin Gastelum. Weidman had some additional comments to make about Bisping, outside of his challenge to come fight a real man.

Referencing a meme Weidman sent to Bisping, showing a man with crooked eyes. Which The Count says struck a nerve. It being an injury he received while inside the octagon. And didn’t take kindly at all to Weidman making a joke out of something like that, especially as a fellow professional.

For a man that constantly harps on about God this and God that. It’s funny how he could have such lack of respect for another fighters injuries.

Bisping wasted no time in going after Weidman’s victory over Kelvin Gastelum. Who he describes as an inflated welterweight. And the former division Champion Weidman, having lost decisively in his last 3 fights. Took on and beat a guy who should, in reality, be fighting at 170lbs.

So it’s fair to say that Bisping doesn’t see this a s a great win. None the less, it’s a win which the father of Chris Weidman, who is one of his biggest supporters said, marks the return of his son. Many people were counting him out. But now he’s back and he will be the Champion again.

Bisping is Not Convinced

Michael Bisping isn’t at all convinced. In fact, he’s not convinced Weidman was ever Championship material. And goes through the opponents he faced before becoming the UFC Champion. With some fighters being named that many fans would struggle to know.

Bisping goes on to say that he will be having words when he meets with Weidman face to face, whenever that may be. He’s not going to do anything thuggish, but the former Champion is now firmly in his sights. We will have to wait and see what comes of this some time down the line. But with the Champion due to face Robert Whittaker, who himself is now out of action. Cold fate play any role?

Floyd Mayweather Senior - Like Father Like Son Boxing Footage

Floyd Mayweather Senior – Like Father Like Son

You know that timeless saying, Like Father Like Son? Well in terms of elite World class boxing, that may not be more true than when it comes to Floyd Mayweather Senior. And his son, the legendary boxer Floyd Mayweather Junior. Senior boxed professionally from 1974 through to 1990. Amassing a record of 28 – 6 -1 inside the ring.

Mayweather became known as one of the best defensive boxers of his generation. A skill he would pass on to his own son Mayweather Junior. A skill which is credited for turning his son into one of the greatest and most successful boxers in the history of the sport.

Floyd Mayweather Junior reigned across five weight divisions and earned multiple World Championships. Going 49 – 0 before retiring from boxing in 2015. A record only ever equally by the great Rocky Marciano.

But it was his father’s own skill as a boxer and a trainer which elevated the World champion to become one of the all time greats. And from the footage you see here, we can get at least some insight into the style and ring craftsmanship of Mayweather Senior. Which he would later pass on as a trainer.

It was Senior who made the now famed Mayweather shoulder roll, part and parcel of his arsenal. In a style which was meant to make other fighters punches be deflected away from their target. Thereby minimising the damage taken by the fighter. It’s a style which his son took on board and made his very own. Slipping and moving, throwing the jab and getting out of harm’s way. Although not making for very exciting fights. It was extremely successful and helped lead Mayweather Junior to greatness.

Mayweather’s Final Challenge

Coming out of retirement he now faces into his 50th fight as a professional. And looks to cement his legacy as the greatest boxer of all time. Can he blow past this latest challenge, as many boxing purists predict? Or will he be tested in ways he has never before seen? History has yet to be written, but history will remember him none the less.
