Conor McGregor Has A Good Chance To Beat Mayweather Says Idris Elba
Actor and kickboxer Idris Elba joined the guys at First Take and gave his thoughts on Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather. When asked if he believes Conor will even land a punch on Floyd. Idris gives a warning to the hosts that he is going to say something controversial.
“In my opinion, I think that McGregor has a really good chance of winning that fight. And here’s why, and I know it’s controversial. Listen, I have a kickboxing background. The agility of kickboxers in MMA is very different from a boxer ok.
And I think what’s going to happen is that… and I love Floyd, he’s a friend. He’s gonna fight his fight, but I think McGregor is going to topple that. He’s going to topple his composure. He’s going to throw some thing around that Floyd isn’t going to be used to. And the other thing about McGregor is that he can strike really really really quickly out of nowhere.
Where I think if Floyd does what he does normally, is try to hold a tight fight. I think McGregor is going to topple that, strike him. If he gets his chin, it could be over. Not a lot of people agree with me. I just know kickboxers move differently.”
Max Kellerman tries to pull Elba’s points apart. Referencing how he used to watch old kickboxing fights as a kid. And how the ruleset put them at a disadvantage to a good boxer.
Idris however, comes back at Max and explains how he believes that McGregor is not going to try box, Floyd. He’s going to fight Floyd!
“MMA is Mixed Martial Arts, so McGregor is not just a kickboxer. He has the agility of so many different disciplines. Which is what I think is going to be a disadvantage for Floyd. Floyd is going to try box Colin? Conor is going to fight Floyd. I think what’s going to happen is Floyd is going to try taking off his gloves and landing one on him really.”

Joe Rogan Argues UFC vs Boxing – Destroys Lou Debella
For the times we are in, there’s maybe no better example of how many in the boxing fraternity continue to view Mixed Martial Arts. Although from some years back, it was a classic interview. Where UFC commentator Joe Rogan takes on boxing promoter Lou Debella.
The interview starts with the interviewer asking if MMA will peak and fall like kickboxing. Or become a permanent part of the sports culture like boxing. Joe, of course, is fully behind MMA and the UFC at this point. And adamantly believes that it will remain very much part of the sports culture. Simply because it’s just much more exciting than any other combat sport out there.
Lou is asked if he thinks MMA will stay around or even overtake boxing. But he feels that it’s nothing like boxing. And as long as they can get young white guys to watch it will stay around. Lou equates the sport to human cock fighting or pit bull fighting. Citing the elbows to the head and the like.
It’s Human Cockfighting
Joe Rogan replies asking how is it cockfighting, when it is in fact, actual fighting. Boxing to him is just a limited form of fighting. MMA encompasses all aspects of fighting including kicking, submissions and punches. And that is why it’s a much more dynamic sport.
The guys debate the pro’s and con’s, but Joe’s essential point is that this is the sport of actual fighting. Where as many aspects of boxing are really ineffective. And don’t even work in a real fight. The beautiful shoulder rolls etc. Joe is forced to go on the defensive when Lou says he knows nothing about boxing. To which Joe hits back that it’s a beautiful sport, but it encompasses one aspect of fighting.
Joe goes off on Lou telling him that the stars that they have now, will be the last. As the sport gets swallowed up by MMA. We then get to hear from two of the biggest stars in both sports.
Floyd Mayweather,
“The guys that are in the UFC couldn’t make it in boxing. So they chose the UFC.”
Chuck Liddell on Floyd,
“He couldn’t cut it in our sport.. he wouldn’t make it out of the first round.”
Lou comes back with some good points and actually references an MMA fighter probably not being able to deal with the science of a Floyd Mayweather.
Joe wraps things up by explaining that many of the guys in MMA came from wrestling and other similar sports. The UFC offered them an avenue to become a professional, where before there was none. The interview ends on a positive note as Joe blows Lou a big kiss. Why can’t we all just get along?
Conor Mcgregor Sparring Malignaggi Broken-up by Joe Cortez
News has surfaced that Ireland’s Conor McGregor and his sparring partner Paulie Malignaggi. Got a little bit out of control during their most recent session. McGregor is using the skills and knowledge of Paulie as he prepares to take on Floyd Mayweather August 26th.
We can take this news any number of ways. Was Conor getting frustrated with Paulie for not being able to land a shot? Or was Paulie doing something, in particular, that got under his skin? Was Conor trying to rough Malignaggi up like he perhaps intends to do to Floyd and Paulie wasn’t having it?
Either way referee Joe Cortez was in situ and was forced to step in between the two and separate them. Warning that the would be taking points off both men. It’s a great idea having a high-level ref actually in the camp. So that Conor gets a real world feel for what he can and cannot do.
Come fight night the referee in question will be looking for anything which might be deemed illegal from the UFC champion. So to ensure that boxings legacy stays intact. It will be Mayweathers World and the rough and tumble of Mixed Martial Arts has no place there.

Once again we go inside the Team Conor McGregor cap for another day with his friends and supporters. Never a dull moment as the crew head out for their morning coffee.
