ALISTAIR OVEREEM DOCUMENTARY | The Reem S4 | Episode 06
In this episode, Alistair Overeem visits Tokyo Japan, where a lot of past memories of fighting come up. Alistair remembers back to the time when he took on and beat Vitor Belfort. As well as the maniac Igor Vovchanchin. All of these fights occurred in the same arena, where he also beat K-1 legend, Badr Hari.
Overeem takes some time to walk around the famous Saitama Arena, where normally he would be fighting. Now, he is here as a tourist. And no matter where he goes in the city he is recognised by fans of the sport.
Next up, Alistair along with the rest of the visiting UFC gang visit a US army base on the outskirts of Tokyo. Along for the journey is MMA veteran, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. Another fighter who built his name in Japan back in the days of Pride Fighting Championships. The team spend the day mixing with the soldiers and civilians who live on the base. Signing autographs and discussing plans for the future.
Next up it’s time for the fighters to attend media day, even including those who are ot fighting like Overeem. He’s actually in town as an ambassador for the sport as opposed to competing. And for him it seems quite strange. He is famous in Japan and he loves the country, so why not put him on that card, right?
Saitama Arena for UFC Tokyo
Later on and it’s fight night and time for the UFC debut of Gokhan Saki. Saki and Overeem were once teammates and have also fought each other. But the two maintained a bond throughout their fighting careers.
Last up Alistair visits former opponent and now friend Hiromitsu Kanehara. Who is in the hospital for some back issues. Funny how these gladiators who were once competitors can become such good friends.
Yet another great episode from the outstanding Alistair Overeem documentary series The Reem.
