Canelo, GGG And Oscar De La Hoya Join First Take | First Take
World middleweight champions Canelo Alvarez and his opponent Gennady Golovkin, alongside Golden Boy promoter Oscar De La Hoya. Joined First Take’s Stephen A. Smith and Max Kellerman, to talk about their upcoming super fight. Which is set to take place September 16, live from at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Both men discuss the timing of the fight with the 26-year-old Canelo facing the 35-year-old Golovkin. In a fight some say could or should have happened some time ago. Canelo reacts to being asked if he gets upset by GGG being seen as the boxing fans favourite. This perhaps being a spot he should be holding!
Having fought Floyd Mayweather at the young age of just 22. Fighting all comers since the age of 15! Canelo is asked if it was upsetting for him to hear fans believed he was ducking Golovkin. “Correct, I have not ducked anyone since I was 15 years of age. I will use that motivation to take it out on him September 16th.”
Oscar De La Hoya when questioned about the Mayweather vs McGregor “exhibition” fight. Hits back saying that,
“This fight is the real fight!… This is the middleweight fight the fans have been clambering for a long time… And now you have Canelo Alvarez vs GGG. They’re bringing boxing back to the glory days. and that’s all that matters. And like GG says, everything else is just a show!”
