BAMMA 32’s Dylan Tuke and David Khalsa, Top 5 MMA Fights in November | OFT #87
It’s UFC 217 fight week, but instead of cramming everything UFC 217 into the main show, we did something a little different. The preview for UFC 217, where we were joined by Brendan Dorman, will be released separately during the week to give it it’s own space. But it also gives us a chance to bring you two great interviews with the returning Dylan ‘The Nuke’ Tuke and his opponent David Khalsa.
We spoke in depth with both men about their careers to date and the fight coming up in the 3Arena. Tuke, who made his first Obviously Fight Talk appearance as our second ever guest over a year ago. Spoke about his road back to the cage following his first pro-loss in his last outing.
We also previewed November’s ‘Must-Watch MMA Fights’ in our newest segment, which started last month for October. UFC 217 is certainly represented, but with our rule of only two fights from any given card allowed on the list, which ones did we choose?

The fight which took place at UFC Fight Night 69 Jedrzejczyk vs Penne. Was the first title defense in what has turned into a successful series of 5 title defenses. Conor McGregor vs Tony Ferguson Hopefully Says, Dana White
It’s been a year since Conor McGregor last saw the inside of the UFC octagon. And no one is feeling his absence more than his employer the Ultimate Fighting Championships. 2016 was a bumper year that the promotion wishes to no doubt replicate. But without their biggest star, it’s been a struggle.
Of course, there have been a number of determining factors as to what the Irishman hasn’t competed in MMA. Including his super-fight against p4p boxing great Floyd Mayweather. A fight which he lost, while still managing to walk away from the competition some $100 million richer.
There was, of course, the other no small matter of him becoming a father to baby boy Conor Junior. And as any good father would, the lightweight champion wanted to spend some quality time with the new addition to his family.
And now with seemingly nowhere left to turn (outside of a certain Mr. Malignaggi). It looks as though McGregor vs Ferguson might finally come to fruition later this year. or at least that is the hop of the UFC President Dana White.
“Hopefully by the end of the year… “When we talked around the Mayweather fight, he wanted to get back on the horse and fight again.”
And there’s another reason we could see Conor inside the Octagon before years end, adding;
“Plus, here’s a fun fact for you; If he fights two more times before, I can’t remember what Forbes’ year is, Forbes’ year is either March or June, he’ll be the highest paid athlete in the world.
“And you know him, he loves that stuff.”
All the more reason we could very well be looking at a McGregor vs Ferguson showdown in 2017! Might even be that end of year pre-NYE event, who knows?
Now out of competition for four years. It’s really an unknown as to how St Pierre will look and perform inside the cage. And moving up a weight class to take on the current reigning champion in a higher weight division. throws yet another intangible into the mix for the November 4th bout.
When asked about whether fans would get to see the same GSP which dominated the 170lb division for longer than any other fighter. White had this to say,
“I’m a big believer in ring rust. I was just proven wrong recently when ‘The Korean Zombie’ (Chang Sung Jung) had to go do mandatory (military service). They have to do mandatory military service in Korea. So they took him in, snatched him in his prime of his career.
“He had to do the service, came back and knocked out Denis Bermudez in the first round. Which is incredibly impressive. No ring rust on him. So we’ll see what happens with GSP.”
White also discussed the recent tragic events in Las Vegas in which over 50 people died, while some 500 were shot. He discusses the strength and cohesiveness of the Vegas community. Which is more than just a series of casinos and hotels. And what it has been like coming to terms with the fatal incident which rocked the city.
UFC 217 takes place November 4th as Michael Bisping defends his title in the main event against Georges St Pierre.

UFC 217: Bisping vs St-Pierre – Inside the Octagon
Fight analyst Dan Hardy and UFC commentator John Gooden are back Inside the Octagon. To discuss all things Michael Bisping vs Georges St-Pierre. It’s the fight many thought would not come together, but here we are!
As the former undisputed 170lb king moves up to face the 185lbfreigning champion. St Pierre has packed on muscle and looks to challenge Michael Bisping for his middleweight crown. With the Brit saying that the belt he worked so hard to achieve is going nowhere. Is GSP the guy to uncrown him?
We find out everything this weekend as we go Inside the Octagon and discover both fighters keys to victory. Before they step into the cage this coming weekend at UFC 217 in Madison Square Garden NYC.
UFC 217 Embedded 1, middleweight champion Michael Bisping spars in the gym, then heads home to critique his opponent’s acting chops. Former welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre prepares for his middleweight debut under legendary boxing coach Freddie Roach.
Bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt has a send-off dinner at UFC Hall of Famer Urijah Faber’s house, alongside fellow Team Alpha Male athletes including Andre Fili, Clay Guida and Sage Northcutt. Rival TJ Dillashaw also celebrates alongside friends and family in advance of his journey to reclaim the bantamweight title.
Strawweight title challenger Rose Namajunas judges a kids’ costume contest at the gym. And her energized opponent Joanna Jedrzejczyk fine-tunes her game for what could be a historic title defense. UFC 217 Embedded is an all-access, behind-the-scenes video blog leading up to the three title fights.
The current UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley stops Carlos Condit at UFC 171. Woodley was getting the better of Condit in the exchanges before Condit suffered a knee injury which began in a takedown. Soon after Woodley targeted the knee of Condit until it eventually gave out due to a leg kick. It would take over a year for Condit to fully recover and return to action.
The fight that finally secured the middleweight title for Michael Bisping. As he took on and defeated the reigning 185lb champion Luke Rockhold for a second time at just a few weeks notice. To say that both of these fighters don’t see eye to eye, would be an understatement. In life, certain people just do not gel and these are two! “No touch? I’ll Touch You in a Second Motherf*!$£r” Kind of says it all.
Nick Diaz taking on BJ Penn who moved up to welterweight to take on the former Strikeforce champion at UFC 137. In what turned into a one-sided fight with Diaz taking a unanimous decision over their 3 round fight. It would end up being the beginning of a 5 fight losing streak for Penn. While Diaz would only fight 3 more times for the UFC, losing twice and with one No Contest.
UFC 217: Michael Bisping vs Georges St-Pierre – Watch List
Megan Olivi sits down with UFC matchmaker Sean Shelby. To break down the three title fights headlining one of the most anticipated nights of the year at UFC 217: Bisping vs St-Pierre. With so many great fights on the card. Fight fans are spoiled for choice as the biggest card of the year gets nearer.
Former bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw will take on his former teammate and current bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt. With no love lost between these two, it’s a fight which has bubbled and not yet boiled over. Dillashaw gets his opportunity for another shot at the title he once held. While Garbrandt looks to cement his position at the top of the 135 pounds class.
In the co-main event that night Rose Namajunas challenges Joanna Jedrzejczyk for the strawweight crown. With Jedrzejczyk dominating the division since winning the belt against Carla Esparza at UFC 185. Can Namajunas put the first blemish on the Poles 14 – 0 record? It’s one loss of fans will be watching closely and could very well be fight of the night.
The main event slot on the night is set to have the returning Georges St Pierre. Challenge Michael Bisping for the UFC middleweight title. GSP who is the former 170lb welterweight champion. Looks to move up a division in his first fight back and challenge for the 185lb middleweight crown.
Plenty of big fight taking place all under the UFC 217 banner. We hope that all fighters make is safe and sound to fight night.
Darren Till ● “The Future” -Dana White | 63-0 The Next Superstar Of MMA
63 Wins, 0 Losses… Dana White calls this warrior “The Future”. As CEO of the UFC for over a decade, those words hold tremendous weight… Lets take a closer glance at who he’s on about.
Georges St-Pierre was an all-time great UFC champion, an international superstar, with blue-chip sponsors and a budding film career. Whose dominant run inside the Octagon showed no end in sight. Suddenly, in 2013, just entering his athletic prime. The man known to millions simply as “GSP” walked away from it all, relinquishing his title and retiring at the height of his powers.
Now after nearly four years away, GSP returns to the sport he once ruled to challenge Michael Bisping for the UFC title. And to face the demons that drove him away. This film will explore the complex backstory and complicated personality of St-Pierre.
Whose experience as a youth tormented by bullies lead him to an obsessive pursuit of martial arts, and to ultimately becoming the best fighter on the planet. GSP tells us in his own words why he left, how he spent his self-imposed exile. And what to expect from the resurrection of GSP in November of this year.
The UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre defending his title against Mayhem Miller at UFC 52 back in 2005. The most dominant welterweight of all time returns after a 4 year layoff at UFC 217. To face the current reigning middleweight champion Michael Bisping. And see if he can become a two division UFC champion in the sport.
Meet boxer Josh Kelly, a rising welterweight prospect from the UK that many people are comparing to a young Roy Jones Jr and Vasyl Lomachenko. As of right now its pretty early in his career, but he does look very promising. Boxing Legends TV has been kind enough to go back through his few pro fights. To show what exactly people are getting so hyped about.
With flashes of brilliance similar in many ways to the aforementioned. Has Kelly really got the potential to live up to the high praise being heaped upon him? We will just have to keep a closer eye on this talent, as he moves through the ranking of the boxing world. On his way to who knows where!

The UFC middleweight Michael Bisping and former bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw. Sit down to answer questions from the media in the UFC 217 pre-fight build up. Bisping who came straight from five rounds of sparring. Says that he is currently the best version of himself as a fighter.
He has been super disciplined in the buildup to this fight. As he knows he is dealing with one of the very best fighters to ever step inside the cage. Bisping discusses why this fight happened after initially being put to bed. How he accepted the winner of Romero Whittaker, only for Whittaker to get injured.
Now that he is facing GSP, he has had to bring in some very specific guys to mimic the Canadians style. Including a selection of top wrestlers to deal with the constant takedown attempts.
Bisping also talks about how he has matured mentally as a fighter.Whereas before he would always get super angry before stepping into the cage. Now he likes to take the more calm approach.something which has taken him to the age of 38 to achieve, but as he says,
“It had to happen sometime.”
Both guys talk about what it will be like to fight at the iconic Madison Square Garden. With Bisping saying that it wasn’t until he was at the venue that he felt the history in the air.
Dillashaw discusses why he believes he has a higher fighting IQ than CodyGarbrandt. He talks about what happened during the Dominick Cruz fight. And how Cruz for some reason fought Cody’s fight and not the other way around.
TJ believes that he has to be and will be, the smarter fighter on the night. It’s his fighting IQ versus Cody’s right hand.
Michael Bisping answers the question about GSP’s improvement. And answers the question about him supposedly reinventing himself. Saying that every fighter goes back to what they know when put under pressure.
Yes, he may have learned some new tricks. But once he is put under pressure, gets kicked in the head a few times. He’ll go back to what he knows best. And that is double leg takedown attempts.

Michael Johnson: Straight Up Menace – Ep One | Anatomy of a Fighter
I have spent a lot of time with UFC Lightweight Michael Johnson over the past couple years and I had a chance to really get to know the tough scrapper, who is game for any opponent that he faces. With him having fought pretty much everyone in the Lightweight Division. Johnson is considering moving down a division to featherweight to spark a new journey. Regardless of his choice, you can only respect a man, who doesn’t put on boring fights.
When Benson Henderson was the lightweight champion of the UFC and Frankie Edgar got his second bite of the cherry at UFC 150. Unfortunately for Edgar, he was to once again come up short in his quest. Frankie now faces Max Holloway for the UFC featherweight title at UFC 218.
UFC 217: Media Call with Garbrandt, Dillashaw, Jedrzejczyk and Namajunas
In advance of the three world title bouts, UFC will host a media conference call. Featuring the bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt. Who will face off against his former teammate and champion TJ Dillashaw. Also on the card the women’s strawweight champion Joanna Jędrzejczyk. Who looks to defend her title against the always dangerous Rose Namajunas at UFC 217.
Muhammad Ali and The Fight Doctor – A Cautionary Tale
A look back at the relationship of Muhammad Ali and Ferdie Pacheco, why their paths eventually diverged. And how “The Greatest” became a cautionary tale for modern boxers and mixed martial artists.
Much more footage in this video than I’d usually use. But I’d imagine some people are unfamiliar with Pacheco and the old clips of sports writers and boxing analysts discussing legends like Ali and Joe Frazier is always quality.
When a young up and coming BJJ players by the name of Eddie Bravo. Beat the living BJJ legend Royler Gracie in their classic ADCC 2003 match. It was a moment which solidified Bravo as one of the global names in the sport. And by his side on that fateful day was good friend, Joe Rogan, as we see spotted here at the end of this short video.
Conor McGregor vs. Marc Goddard & Norman Parke Sucker-Punched at KSW 40 (Referee’s Corner)
Marc Goddard had a busy week last weekend. At UFC Gdansk, Conor McGregor was almost acting as a forth cornerman for Artem Lobov when Goddard had to step in; and at KSW 40. Norman Parke and Mateusz Gamrot fought to a controversial no contest before Gamrot’s cornerman sucker-punched Parke after the fight. Leading UK-based referee Daniel Movahedi joined us to speak about Goddards busy weekend, explain why certain decisions were made, and share his similar experiences.

Darren Till – ‘800 pound gorilla?’
After what could only be described as a decimation Saturday against Donald Cowboy Cerrone (all due respect) against the odds, Darren Till just went from near-radar to making bleeps. I wanted to focus on some of the things I saw that were noteworthy, as well as some general thoughts on both fighters. This fight was a good example of what I’m not a fan of in “Muay Thai for MMA” vs. what I am a huge fan of.
The future looks bright for Till, curious whom he fights next. Thoughts everyone?

Lyoto Machida brutally knocked out Rashad Evans to take the UFC light heavyweight title. Th image of him laying spread eagled on the floor has led to many a meme and has stuck with Evans throughout his career. With everyone from fans trying to get him to sign pictures of it. To Rampage Jackson using it to get under his skin on The Ultimate Fighter. As he reenacted the now infamous stoppage at 3:57 of R2 of their fight.
It was a good night for the Irish at KSW 40 but Parke versus Gamrot almost sparked a mass brawl.
Heading into the most anticipated bout of what was a fantastic nights entertainment, Ireland were 3-0 against their Polish counterparts. The event was happening on Irish soil in Dublin’s 3 Arena but judging by the atmosphere you could have sworn you were in Warsaw.
The Polish had taken over. Norman Parke was met with a hostile reception as he made his walk to the cage. His opponent, Mateusz Gamrot was welcomed like he was the hometown hero.
Parke was up for this. He was more fired up for this than we’d ever seen the Bushmill’s man. There was bad blood between these two from their first encounter and both men were hell-bent on setting the record straight.
Unfortunately, we are none the wiser to whom the better man is. But that’s not to say it wasn’t interesting. The fight was a barn burner while it lasted, and not just while it lasted.
Gamrot vs Parke Waved Off
What followed Marc Goddard’s waving off of the fight due to two eye pokes from Gamrot almost sparked a full-scale riot. Security was called into the cage and into the stands. Nobody knew were to l00k but it was clear that things were getting ugly.
It was a shame the fight came to the conclusion it did midway through round two. It had been a great back and forth stand-up war to that point. But two eye pokes from the Pole had left Parke’s eye visibly damaged and a no contest was declared.
Round one was a tough one to call. Both men were swinging for the fences like it was the last ten seconds of the fight. Gamrot seemed to be landing the cleaner shots but he did land two that weren’t so clean, one to the groin and the first of them two eye pokes.
The crowd reacted to that fantastic opening round and the decibels inside the arena were raised a level in anticipation for the second. So it didn’t come as a surprise when the fight was waved off that the crowd didn’t react too favourably.
Trouble broke out in the crowd and extra security had to be called to sort it out. As that was going on a mini-melee was transpiring in the cage. That escalated when Gamrot’s corner man decided to punch Norman Parke on the chin.
Not the classiest of moves from the young man but the Polish crowd seemed to enjoy it. Parke had to be escorted backstage and things eventually settled down again. It’s hard to know if Parke and Gamrot have seen the last of one and other but it feels like there’s still some unfinished business.
Three out of Three KSW 40
Earlier in the night, the Irish had won three out of three against the Polish. Paul Lawrence nicked a very close split decision against Konrad Iwanowski. Paul Redmond was also awarded a split decision, although his seemed a clearer cut victory against Lukasz Chlewicki.
Ireland’s most impressive performance came from the returning SBG fighter Chris Fields. The middleweight had been out of action since February 2016 but didn’t show a hint of ring rust on his return. He dominated Michal Fijalka in what was very much a grappling match, threatening with various submissions throughout.
The KSW woman’s flyweight title was on the line as champion Ariane Lipski made her first defense against fellow Brazilian Mariana Morias. Lipski is a real star in the making and has a lot of hype around her. She fuelled this even more by making easy work of Morias, submitting her with a rear naked choke in the first round.
KSW 40 Mariusz Pudzianowski vs Jay Silva
The main event of the evening seen former Worlds strongest man and Polish icon Mariusz Pudzianowski take on Jay Silva. ‘Puzian’ was spurred on by an unbelievable ovation from the crowd and came out swinging. He threw everything but the kitchen sink at Silva in the opening round.
Silva survived though but had to endure another difficult second with the big Pole dominating him from the top on the ground. Pudianowski gassed a bit for the third and allowed Silva back in the fight. Silva needed the finish but couldn’t get it and ended up losing via unanimous decision.
It was a good fight that capped of an incredible night. KSW really made a real impression on their first visit to Ireland. The fights were good but the production is in a league of its own when it comes to MMA organisations that have visited Ireland. We look forward to seeing them again.

Michael Bisping vs Georges St-Pierre – “THE LEGEND RISES” | UFC 217
Michael Bisping is the best there is, maybe the best there ever was in mixed martial arts. At getting under the skin of not only his opponents but potential opponents, fans, media and just about everyone else connected with the sport.
As a very talented broadcaster on Fox, he is not above using his position to fire zingers at any of his peers. If he thinks it will get a reaction, Bisping will say it.
If there is such a thing as the most hated man in MMA, Bisping would be it.
All of that, though, ignores one very obvious truth that we’re only now coming to late in the man’s career: Michael Bisping is one of the best fighters in the UFC’s history.
No, he’s no Demetrious Johnson, or Jon Jones, or Anderson Silva. He doesn’t have the physical gifts of a Georges St-Pierre, or the long roster of stars defeated like B.J. Penn.
But the 38-year-old Bisping has fought more, and won more, than any fighter in the nearly 24-year history of the UFC. And he’s improbably won the promotion’s middleweight title in a stunning upset that ranks among the most significant upsets ever.
Even St-Pierre, who will end a nearly four-year retirement on Nov. 4. When he challenges Bisping for the middleweight belt at Madison Square Garden in New York. In the main event of UFC 217, acknowledges that Bisping hasn’t gotten his just due from the public.
Asked if he was surprised Bisping was the champion, St-Pierre didn’t hesitate before responding.
“No, not really, and I think if he would fight Luke Rockhold again, he would beat him again,” – St-Pierre said.
Now, this could be St-Pierre delivering the platitudes about an upcoming opponent that is typical in this sport. Rockhold, after all, was a massive favorite at UFC 199 in 2016 when Bisping knocked him cold in the first round to win the belt.
He’d defeated Michael Bisping a year-and-a-half earlier in a one-sided, decisive manner. And Bisping took the fight against Rockhold on two weeks’ notice as a late replacement for Chris Weidman. But St-Pierre went on, heaping praise upon Bisping in front of a small group of reporters in what seemed a sincere assessment of his rival.
“I think Michael is like a good, old wine,” St-Pierre said. “He’s gotten better with time.”
Bisping is never going to get the acclaim that he deserves. He started out as an underdog and the perception of him hasn’t changed. But he has 20 wins in the UFC, more than anyone has ever compiled, and there’s no overlooking that no matter what one thinks of his competition.
And while most of his wins have come out of what would be considered the top five in his division, any win in the UFC is significant. In addition, he’s not only beaten Rockhold, but he’s got victories over Anderson Silva, Dan Henderson and Cung Le, among many others.
But Bisping’s talents in the cage are overlooked because of his trash talk. The “Hockey Night in Canada” broadcast of the Maple Leafs-Canadiens game Saturday at the Bell Centre in Montreal opened with Bisping putting his title belt at center ice and challenging St-Pierre to touch it, as boos rained down upon him.
During their recent media tour, St-Pierre could barely finish a sentence without Bisping interrupting him. At a news conference at the Hockey Hall of Fame last week in Toronto, St-Pierre was asked about the impact that legendary boxing trainer Freddie Roach would have upon him.
As St-Pierre answered, Bisping cut in.
“Hey, ‘Freddie Roach, Freddie Roach, Freddie Roach,’ ” Bisping said. “That’s all we hear these days. What about Firas Zahabi, he’s been with you for years. Why don’t you give Firas a shout out? [Expletive] Freddie. He’s jumped on the bandwagon at the last minute. What about Firas? Come on, shout out your home team. Shout out Tri-Star.”

‘The 3 to Flat 9’
With Swanson expected to face rising star Brian Ortega 12/9/17 at UFC Fight Night 123, I figured I’d finally cover one of the most creative and exciting fighters in MMA.
Because I constantly use the number system in my breakdowns, and the variety in which Cub Swanson employs them in an improvised manor, the title ‘3 to Flat 9’, a technique in jazz improvisation (these numbers refer to degrees of the scale above the root note of a given chord in a chord progression) seemed applicable. This is a bebop, “Birdman” approach to improvisation, not unlike targeting, nor striking for that matter.

Let’s go behind the scenes of for Fight Night Gdansk and see what these fighters are getting up to? We follow the stars of the main card including Karolina, Darren Till and Artem Lobov. Donald Cerrone is out on the streets of Gdansk and talking about his main event fight. And the old dog still has some fight in him.
What a year it has been for the unified world boxing champion Anthony Joshua. The Brit who has seen a meteoric rise through the ranks of heavyweight boxing, starting out in his career as a professional against Emanuele Leo at the O2 Arena in Greenwich. And just 4 short years later, defeating one of the all-time greats Wladimir Klitschko. In their IBF, IBO and WBA world heavyweight title bout.
It was a fight, many thought had come too soon for the young champion, but Joshua showed amazing tenacity, durability. And desire to come back from a potentially fight-ending knockdown in the sixth round. To finish off the former champion Klitschko in emphatic fashion. Confirming his status as the current biggest name in heavyweight boxing.
And now Joshua now sits on the cusp of yet another great accolade. As the man from Watford seems poised to earn one of the most revered awards amongst British athletes, in Britains Sports Personality of the Year. With the odds-on favourite seemingly once again destined to add yet another achievement to the ever-growing list on his fairytale run.
Defending his Crown
Now currently in camp, as he prepares to defend his heavyweight crown. Joshua who was originally slated to fight top contender Kubrat Pulev, now faces Frenchman Carlos Takam on October 28th at Cardiff’s Principality stadium, following an injury which forced Pulev to withdraw.
Joshua who we understand was of course not at all happy with the Pulev pullout. Having already lost out in a potential rematch with Wladimir Klitschko. Would no doubt gain consolation with a win over Takam. Followed by him being awarded the SPOTY, come December 17th at Liverpool’s Echo Arena.
With a win at the ceremony making him just the fifth boxer in the awards illustrious 63-year history to take the top gong. Alongside fellow pugilists, including Henry Cooper, who took the award on two occasions. Barry McGuigan, who became the first recipient born outside of Britain to win.
Lennox Lewis, who after defeating Evander Holyfield, became the undisputed world heavyweight champion in 1999. And undefeated super middleweight world champion, Joe Calzaghe.
Will the stars align yet again for Anthony Joshua in 2017. And finish off his greatest year to date with the award to match? Watch this space…
KSW will make its first appearance on Irish soil this Saturday at Dublin’s 3Arena with KSW 40 and MMAmicks will be there to welcome them.
The Polish promotion is famous for their fantastic production that creates amazing atmospheres for their fighters to go to war. And this Saturday will be no different as we Irish too are famous for making some noise. Accompanied by the large Polish community now living across the island it promises to be one hell of a night.
Inside the cage, there is interest from both the Polish and Irish perspectives. There’s four Ireland versus Poland clashes and two title fights on the card. One man ticking both those boxes is Bushmills Norman Parke.
Gamrot vs Parke KSW 40
The former UFC lightweight takes on Mateusz Gamrot in a much-anticipated rematch for the KSW lightweight title. The pair first met at the mega KSW 39 in front of nearly 58,000 spectators in Warsaw this April. That was the second highest attendance in MMA history behind only the legendary Pride Shockwave event in Japan in 2002.
Gamrot defeated Parke via unanimous decision on the night but it wasn’t without controversy. The Irish man who was around down in the fight was trying to make something happen in the second. As he sprawled for a takedown he attempted to secure a choke and in doing so bizarrely had his finger bitten by his opponent.
Parke’s protests at this madness have earned him a rematch and they will be going at it for five rounds this time instead of three. There is bad blood in this one now so expect fireworks as soon that opening bell sounds for the co-main event.
Pudzianowski vs McSweeney KWS 40 Main Event
The main event sees the legendary Polish superstar Mariusz Pudzianowski take on England’s James McSweeney. ‘Pudzian’ as he’s known in his native land is a former strongman competitor and five-time World’s Strongest Man champion. Since making the move to MMA in 2009 the big man has accumulated an impressive 11-5 record and faced some of the world’s top heavyweights.
McSweeney is a former UFC Ultimate Fighter semifinalist and has faced his fair share top opponents too. He brings action guaranteed and if he goes down (as his 15-15 record tells you he often does) he goes down in a blaze of glory. The last time one of his fights went the distance was in February 2011, so fasten your seat-belts folks.
The woman’s flyweight championship is on the line in an all Brazilian matchup as Ariane Lipski makes her first defense against Mariana Morais. Lipski won the inaugural championship after an amazing back and forth fight with Romanian Diana Belbita at KSW 39. With only 8 seconds left of the first round she submitted Belbita with an armbar.
Irish fan favourites Paul Redmond and Chris Fields will be competing for the loudest cheers of the night. Redmond takes on Poland’s Lukasz Chlewicki in a featherweight bout while Fields faces Michal Fijalka at light heavyweight. Polish born, now residing in Ireland Konrad Iwanowski faces off against Paul Lawrence in another Ireland versus Poland matchup.
KSW Co-Founder Martin Lewandowski on KSW 40, Expanding in Europe, UFC vs. KSW
KSW co-founder Martin Lewandowski sat down and toasted a whiskey with Rob and Noel from Obviously Talk to discuss KSW’s debut in Ireland with KSW 40. He spoke about Ireland being a ‘priority’ to the organisation; the event being close to a sellout and being the best selling MMA show in Ireland aside from the UFC; KSW’s extravagant production. Confirmed that Rhys McKee is a fighter KSW will use in the future; explained just how big KSW is in Poland. The promotions plans to expand further in Europe; and much more.
“Fresh off the monumental KSW 39: Colosseum event at Warsaw’s National Stadium, Europe’s leading Mixed Martial Arts promotion KSW. Will make their anticipated debut on Irish soil as KSW 40 will take place in 3Arena on October 22nd 2017. It will mark KSW’s second event outside of Poland, after a very successful KSW 32: Road to Wembley event in London back in late 2015.” – 3Arena’s website.
